These items are consigned by the son of USAAF Private Ronald D. McWherter, an Airplane Armory Gunner who served in Europe immediately following WWII / during the Occupation period and had told his son that he acquired the Stivers bag and contents during a trade / exchange of goods with another service member while he was serving in Europe during the occupation. McWherter's service record (a copy of which is included) lists his arrival in France as 3 January 1947.
