A detailed 88-page Operation Overlord: Neptune Phase briefing book was prepared by Rear Admiral Alan G. Kirk, Commander of Task Force 122 and given to Senior Intelligence and Planning Officers in April 1944 during the Preparatory Period for the Normandy Coast beach landings on June 6, 1944. The monograph is divided into 8 sections and several folios of charts, maps, and sketches.
WWII USN OSCAR PARATROOPER PARADUMMY PROTOTYPE
INTRIGUING HERMANN GOERING WWII NUREMBERG WAR CRIME TRIAL LETTERS, HERBERT STIVERS BAG, & MEDICAL FOUNTAIN PEN BODY
All acquired together and at the same time, with the letters and pen body being in the bag that belonged to Harry Stivers. These items are consigned by the son of USAAF Private Ronald D. McWherter, an Airplane Armory Gunner who served in Europe immediately following WWII / during the Occupation period and had told his son that he acquired the Stivers bag and contents during a trade / exchange of goods with another service member while he was serving in Europe during the occupation. McWherter's service record (a copy of which is included) lists his arrival in France as 3 January 1947. It was not until 2005 when Stivers spoke publicly for the first time (at the urging of his daughter he gave an interview to the LA Times) about his time as a guard at the Nuremberg War Trials, his relationship with Goering, and possible involvement in providing the Cyanide with which Goering committed suicide that the Stivers bag and contents became of real interest to McWherter.
