A Rare WWII German Fallschirmjager Paratrooper Helmet attracts the eye of collectors. This WWII German Paratrooper Helmet was acquired directly from the attic of the estate from the veteran who brought it back following the war. This paratrooper helmet, along with other headgear, edged weapons and firearms were located in a box in the attic, where they most likely sat for the past 60+ years.
This helmet is an excellent example, still retaining its white cover. Fine original WWII German Paratrooper Helmets are scarce, making this piece very attractive to headgear collectors.
During WWII, German Fallschirmjäger were the first paratroopers to engage in large, wide-ranging airborne operations. With a very strong and unique Esprit de corps, they became known as "green devils" by the Allied forces they fought against.
The helmet will sell as lot 1098 of the November 30th, 2014 Militaria & Firearm Auction. In addition to the Paratrooper helmet, the auction offers nearly 500 lots of militaria and firearms, spanning all countries and conflicts, 17th C. to Current Day. Interested collectors are able to bid from the floor, live telephone, absentee, or live / absentee Internet.
