This pair of Flintlock Pistols will sell as lot 1327 of the November 30th, 2014 Auction. This pair of Burl Italian Pistols are finely crafted and exhibit stunning detail, to include silver relief accents throughout.

Lot 1327 | FINE PAIR OF 18th C BURL ITALIAN FLINTLOCK PISTOLS Extremely fine example of an 18th Century matched pair of Italian dueling (holster) pistols. Made in Pistoia, maker unknown. Each is finely carved of solid burl wood. 4.75" miquelet locks with silver relief decorations. 10.75" smooth bore 60 caliber barrels with etched tang. Baboon and Pistoia proof marks inlaid in gold in tops of barrels. Both are exquisitely decorated in a Bacchus motif with grape designs in silver relief on the left side, trigger guard, and rod holders. Back strap and butt are silver relief as well in classical style with Bacchus on butt. 17" total.

Condition: Very fine with minimal wear and discoloration. One pistol has a crack through the wood 2.25" from the muzzle.
