Important Civil War Military Archive and Wartime Saddle of Brev. Brigadier General Benjamin D. Pritchard 4th Michigan Cavalry. Pritchard led the 4th Michigan Cavalry, captors of Jefferson Davis – President of the Confederate States. The Archive was purchased by Gary Bisacky in the early 1980’s, from the Grandson of Pritchard. The Pritchard Civil War Archive is consigned, by the Bisacky estate, and will sell with Centurion Auctions, in the May 28th 2016 Civil War Militaria & Arms Auction.

Auction Description of Lot 17105 | SADDLE & ARCHIVE BREV. BRIGADIER GENERAL BD PRITCHARD 4th MICHIGAN CAVALRY

Important Archive and wartime saddle of General Benjamin D. Pritchard 4th Michigan Cavalry, captors of Jefferson Davis. The saddle was used by Pritchard at the time of the capture of Jefferson Davis. Archive includes personal papers, ephemera, and a copy of The Life and Times of B.D. Pritchard by James J. Green. Period and reunion photos of Pritchard, 1899 and 1915 group reunion photos of the captors of Jeff Davis, framed CDV of Andrew Bee captor of Jeff Davis.

Condition: Very good to good

Provenance: 1981 handwritten and signed letter from Dudley H. Pritchard grandson of Gen. B.D. Pritchard, conveyed at the time Pritchard sold this saddle and associated documents to Gary Bisacky. The saddle is consigned through the estate of Bisacky.
