A scarce 1943 WWII US Inland (1st block production) M1A1 .30 caliber Paratrooper Carbine caught the eye of M1 Carbine collectors. Opening to an immediate bidding battle that finally came to rest at a final price of $10,560.
In extremely fine condition and retaining 75-80% of the original finish, this 1943 WWII era US Inland paratrooper carbine has a high-wood "IO" marked walnut stock, parkerized finish, flat bolt, "IO" marked 2 rivet shallow groove hand guard, Overton pistol grip, type 1 "U" marked barrel band with no bayonet lug, original sling, type 1 "S" marked rear sight, and unmarked type 1A front sight. Receiver ring reads: "US Carbine Cal. 30 M1." Rear of receiver reads: "Inland Div. 381537." Barrel stamped: "Inland MFG. DIV. General Motors 4-43." Trigger assembly stamped with Inland logo, and "HI." Rear of stock above pistol grip stamped with "P" in circle cartouche. US Ordnance crossed cannons mark stamped on bottom of pistol grip. Cast buttplate stamped: "B257614," spokewheel and "2." One "Mid-West Duck & Canvas Co. 1942" marked US magazine pouch, with two 15rd magazines marked: "R-O," and "R-C." No visible import or rebuild markings. Serial Number: 381537.
